# Updating Backup & Archive Salesforce Package Token

## Overview

The Backup & Archive Salesforce package connects to your Flosum Cloud Apps using an access token that automatically expires after a period set by the Connected App. When the token expires, your Salesforce org can no longer connect to your Backup & Archive tenant, and you will see error messages when accessing Backup & Archive data in Salesforce. To restore the connection, re-authenticate with your Flosum tenant to update the token. This connection only affects the Salesforce org’s ability to access and control your Backup & Archive tenant; it does not affect Backup & Archive’s ability to back up your org.

#### Access Token Lifetime

The Access Token Lifetime in the Connected App controls how long the token lasts before you need to update it. If you need to update the token too often, you can adjust its lifetime by editing it in the Connected App. To learn how to change this value, see the Authorization Policy section of the following article.

* [Editing a Connected App](/global-settings/security/connected-apps/editing-a-connected-app.md)
  {% endhint %}

This article explains how to update the Backup & Archive package access token.

#### Flosum System Administrator Required

To authenticate the Backup & Archive package connection, you must log in with a System Administrator account for the Flosum tenant connected to this Salesforce org.
{% endhint %}

1. Enter the System Administrator’s email in the **Email** textbox.
2. Enter the tenant's name in the **Tenant Name** textbox.
3. Enter the System Administrator’s password in the **Password** textbox.

5. Once you have authenticated with your Flosum tenant, you will be returned to Salesforce.
6. If the authentication was successful, the **Token Status** will be **Valid**.

### Troubleshooting

If you cannot update the token or are still experiencing connection issues, follow these troubleshooting steps.

1. Verify that the Flosum user and tenant are correct.
   1. The user must be a valid System Administrator in your Flosum Cloud Apps tenant. To learn more about Flosum user accounts, see the following article.
      1. [Overview of Roles, Groups, and Users](/global-settings/user-management/overview-of-roles-groups-and-users.md)
   2. The tenant name must match the Flosum tenant associated with the Connected App handling this connection. You can find the **Tenant Name** in **Global Settings** > **Settings**.

Important

Use the Tenant Name, not the Tenant ID. These values are the same by default, but if you have renamed your tenant, you must use the Tenant Name to authenticate.

2. Verify that the **Connected App** in your tenant’s Global Settings is configured correctly. Follow the instructions in the article below to configure the Connected App.
   1. [Enable Access to Flosum Backup & Archive Data](/global-settings/security/connected-apps/enable-access-to-flosum-backup-and-archive-data.md)
      {% endstep %}
      {% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.flosum.com/backup-and-archive/backup-and-archive-in-salesforce/updating-backup-and-archive-salesforce-package-token.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
