# Changing Organization Settings - Retrieve Settings

## ![](https://1800549522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FRpUu5iMlzMFAudyBvMOl%2Fuploads%2FG5ZbxX918xOHwbAwAJ4n%2FSummary2-Small-Icon.svg?alt=media\&token=da26a67f-ff7f-47b3-8669-06be960dc2d7) Overview

By default, an organization retrieves all of its metadata components during both automatic and manual retrieval. You can leave some components out of a retrieval to speed up the process or limit the number of components available in DevOps. This article shows you how to do this by excluding them in the organization’s **Retrieve Settings**.

{% hint style="info" %}

#### Excluded Components

After you exclude a component, it no longer appears in the organization’s table of components following the next retrieval. Excluded components are also unavailable for manual retrieval, even when a **Declarative Filter** would normally include them.
{% endhint %}

{% step %}

### Access Retrieve Settings

1. Click **Organizations** from the left sidebar menu.
2. Click the organization you want to change a setting for.&#x20;

3. Click the **Settings** tab.&#x20;

   <div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1800549522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FRpUu5iMlzMFAudyBvMOl%2Fuploads%2FiRn8feM3iZzxuT9e4Xre%2FChangingOrganizationSettingsRetrieve-S01-02.png?alt=media&amp;token=a7eb7e23-7858-47fa-a896-42ce318df807" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Exclude Components

By default, all components are retrieved. The **Retrieve Settings** allow you to select components to be excluded during retrieve jobs.

1. Search or scroll to find components to exclude.&#x20;

   <div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1800549522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FRpUu5iMlzMFAudyBvMOl%2Fuploads%2F0rsMg3wJAz6uCYqosHvx%2FChangingOrganizationSettingsRetrieve-S02-01.png?alt=media&amp;token=5f5ace1e-65e9-484c-b9ce-1ee9f1575c86" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>
2. Click each component to select it. (You can select multiple components at once.)
3. Click the **Right Arrow (>)** button to move all selected components to the **Excluded component types** list.&#x20;

   <div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1800549522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FRpUu5iMlzMFAudyBvMOl%2Fuploads%2FBxSRndrYgI7BfZcYLuQx%2FChangingOrganizationSettingsRetrieve-S02-02.png?alt=media&amp;token=6a42b152-0829-4fd1-b2e6-123f209d7fef" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% hint style="info" %}

#### Bulk Move

The **Double Arrow (>>)** moves all components from one list to the other, in the direction the arrow points. Use the search bar to narrow the list to the components you want to move. For example, in the screenshot above, clicking **>>** would move all components with “Einstein” in the name from the **Available component types** list to the **Excluded component types** list.
{% endhint %}

4. The moved components will appear in the **Excluded component types** list.
5. Click **Save changes** once you're done excluding components.&#x20;

   <div align="left"><figure><img src="https://1800549522-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FRpUu5iMlzMFAudyBvMOl%2Fuploads%2F2CbP6T4qtkrIIDb22diH%2FChangingOrganizationSettingsRetrieve-S02-03.png?alt=media&amp;token=26d2391f-8e2b-4689-a6ec-b88a7cfab90c" alt="" width="563"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

{% endstep %}

{% step %}

### Include Components

To include components that are currently excluded, move them from the **Excluded component types** list back to the **Available component types** list. This uses the same process as excluding components, just in the opposite direction. See the instructions above.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://docs.flosum.com/devops/organizations/individual-organizations/changing-organization-settings-retrieve-settings.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
